To play it doubly safe, I also placed a trackback in the box under Trackbacks on my Write Post page. That's why you see two pages on the screenshot, not just one like you would normally see.

Actually I disagree. Not all blogging softwares will pick up on a trackback or ping when just the URL of the source article is used. It's best to use the URL of the page in question within the article quoting the page in question while sending the actual ping to the URL that's listed on that page for it. if you send the ping to the source URL, it may not show up as a trackback.
