Greets:

Had a bit of a morning challenge from one of my clients on doing a bit of a hack on the WP-ExtremeVideo plugin we use over in my hosting. He wanted to have a link provided where you can download the YouTube Video as well as view it. A two second Google search found a form based YouTube downloader that I stuck up here. Unfortunately, it had no method of passing on the URL of the video in question to the form. You still had to copy and paste it.

That's what I got to do this morning.

Unfortunetly since we can't edit the viewer over at WordPress.com, I needed to provide a fix for those folks. If you want to use this on your own blogs, you have to manually provide a link. Here's how:

Take the URL of the video. For example this one:

http: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZTRFPY-yvM

See that bit after the question mark? All you need to do is copy and paste everything from that on to the following URL:

http: //yourtube.tdjc.be/

Which would give you:

http: //youtube.tdjc.be/?v=ZZTRFPY-yvM

Try it.

Note a space has been added after the colon for those links so you can see what is occurring. You do need to remove them to get them to work of course.

One minor bug. It appears that you might have to hit enter to get it to pick up on the input.

I'll work on adding this to the Video Player later this afternoon. Now in there. You'll note a link along the top right where the link yo the video on You Tube is. I published the changed code here if you want to use it yourself.

All for $12 an hour. :)

Think maybe they're finally admitting that their product is spyware?

From here

Jeanson James Ancheta, 21, from the Los Angeles suburb of Downey, profited by installing adware on a network of innocent third-party compromised computers. According to prosecutors, some of the computers attacked were at the Weapons Division of the US Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake, California and at the US Department of Defense.

Ancheta admitted advertising his botnets online via an IRC channel entitled #botz4sale, selling access to software that could remotely control computers to deliver spam and launch distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against websites. Websites hit by a DDoS attack could then be blackmailed into paying large sums of money to have the public's access to the websites restored.
Oops. :)

If you haven't yet, hit the poll to your right.

Greets:

Another busy day in the neighborhood. Lots of questions being asked over on the WordPress.com support forums. Plus about 2 dozen support tickets and todo items. Gotta figure out some method of passing the file info to the YouTube Downloader to add it a call to the Video displayer. That would be neat.

Plus I got an email from Kris that I have to answer. Haven't read it yet. It's buried in with a couple dozen emails along with those support tickets and whatnot.

Anyone else have something for me to check up on? :)

edit: Oh yeah. And a shout out to phrontisterion as it appears that he or she is having issues getting picked up by Google at least. Hopefully this will help.

I found the source code for the YouTube downloader that I mentioned before so I stuck it up on the website. YouTube Video Downloader Just give it the URL of the video you want, click on the "Get Download URL" link and shortly after that, it will produce another URL which will allow you to download the video to your desktop. :) edit: I'll add something to the Video Player we're using here to make a link go to it or something later on.
I could have sworn that I had placed this one on the site. *shrug* Oh well. :) Dracko19 once again gives us this one. I wish he would do some more soon. :) Description: Drakken sings an old Eagles tune with Smashmouth backing him up.
Well, I got tired of the old video player not working as well as it was suppose to so I've gone ahead and installed WP-ExtremeVideo here on the site. I still need to go back through and edit the CSS file because it sticks out like a sore thumb but it's up and working. The thing I like about it is that I can play videos locally as well instead of having to pull them from YouTube and Google. The code to play the videos on this end is very simple as well so I'm hoping that you'll start seeing more of them here shortly.

Check out the videos today and I'll have some more up shortly.

Quin Separable gives us a great new Kim Possible Desktop Wallpaper, "I can always count on you."
