Greets:

The check cleared this morning finally. I'm off laptop hunting for the rest of the day. :)

Mentioned in one of the email newsletters that I get:

2006 Sysadmin of the Year

And, no, that's not me in the picture.

Update....

Greets:

Been a long day. :(

I placed a link to eBay in the footer of this site. If you use the service, please use that link. I get a dime credit or so if you win something. It adds up in the long run and helps support this site as well as daria.be. :)

Have to renew the domains asap. Have two weeks left until they run out. :(

Finally got the check for the laptop. :)

...and the bank put a hold on it for 10 days. :(

So I'm waiting for it to clear. Lots of fun. :(

Got daria.be up and running again. Caught up on the upgrades as well. :)

...of course I knocked off the site for a day to do it. :(

Oh well. Maybe tomorrow will be better. :)

Anyone remember when little girls used to play things like House and do homework and the like?

Greets and all that.

You're going to have to forgive me. I'm tired and I'm going home to bed shortly. I just wanted to cover some stuff before I took off.

We reached our goal for the laptop. We raised a grand total of $770 and all the pledges cleared. After fundable.org takes out their cut of 7% and the $10 for having them mail me a check, that will give me a total of $706.10 for the laptop as well as a hefty check Thursday I hope. I'll send out an email to everybody when I have the chance and post some pics as well.

I given some thought about what I want in a laptop. I had planned on getting something a bit high end with some decent graphics but I've come to the conclusion that that's just overkill for me. I'm still going to pick up the laptop (You have no idea how I need one) but I'm going to look for a used one in the local pawn shops or online and try to get one for under $400. I've been getting requests for simple graphics work as well and I'm also going to pick up a copy of Paint Shop Pro to install on the machine. I really should also register Ultraedit as well since I use it so much. A couple of other things (ie renewing this domain for one) come to mind as well that I'll discuss later on. If anyone has an issue with any of this, and you might as I only said specifically 'laptop', please feel free to drop me an email and we can work something out or I'll refund your money. (I got the issue with Paypal worked out I've discovered. Nice how they told me...)

Working this weekend both days. I don't know if I'll be around much. Please bear with me. :)

The webcomic ran out of posts three weeks ago. Oops.

Thanks again,

OK folks. Here's one last push for raising the money for getting me a laptop.

As some of you know, I've been trying to raise money to pick up a laptop. I have a new job (which one day I'll have the time to talk about) and it's been keeping me away from the schools where I normally do my online volunteering. With a laptop, I would have a lot more flexability to access the net and spend more time trying to help folks. Right now, I'm lucky to get less than an hour a day and even that's tight.

I've set up a collection over at fundable. I'm trying to raise $650 to pick up a laptop and I need your help. Right now, I have raised a total of $610 with a due date to raise the rest Tuesday evening. I'm down to the last 28 hours.

If I can't come up with that last forty bucks, all of the pledges go back and I don't get anything off of it. That would mean I would have to start over again from the beginning and right now, that's not in my budget.

I'm hoping at least 4 people will step forward and pledge ten bucks a piece. That way I can continuing helping folks online with all of the projects I do. Receipts will be provided and posted online. I'll even take pictures.

Thanks for your assistance,
-drmike
What if George Lucas had directed Lord of the Rings?

Would someone please explain something to me. How am I suppose to help someone when their entire question is:

It doesn't work

OK, what doesn't work? How are you using it? Can you show me where you're trying to use it?

Or can you tell me what book am I holding up in front of my monitor right now? I'll give you a hint - It's a hard cover.

Bloody hell...
