AllofMP3.com gets sued for $1.65 trillion dollars. Read about it on CyberNet.

Chris Brogan gives us six suggestions on how to improve your blog. All of these work on even blogging sites like wordpress.com where features are limited. Even the mention about having comments. Sure, I'm making you jump thru hoops to leave a comment but the blogger (meaning me) has more of a feel who visits their blog. It also cuts down on the amount of work I'm having to face since I haven't yet had to clear out Akismet this morning. Also, why not be asked to register at a site? I mean you do it when you want to post to a forum you come across. You had to do it when you created a blog over at wordpress.com. It takes all of five seconds and most of you already have your email program or site up and running.

Comments are good. I hate going to these blogs where comments aren't allowed. How are you supposed to reply to a blogger when you hit that? When I come across a blog without comments, 99.9% of the time, I'm not going back.

The rest we've talked about before.

One thing I want to add to that list is organization. I'm sitting here at a coffee shop and someone just poked their head in and asked where the nearest BestBuy was. Took all of two seconds to pull up their store locator and find it. You'll note that on my main blog, the page list goes off along the right and hides behind the search box. I've got to fix that.
Just found this on Youtube. I thought I would publish it here. (And test out my install of BlogDesk as well while doing so.)

Edit: Link and video fixed

Some Changes

Greets:

Made some changes on the domain here while working on stuff:

- The old forums are now gone. They were just a source for spam anyway. The new forums are here within the blog and you can find them here. [edit: Removed the link as the forums are no more.] If I have them set up correctly, you must have an account within the blog here to post within them.

- Alien Assault Traders is gone. That game had too many bugs and I didn't want to deal with it anymore.

- I optimized the databases all over the sites so things should run more smoothly for the time being.

- Comments now require an account. I'm sorry to have to do this but I have too many folks leaving comments begging for help with open source projects instead of using teh support options open to them. In addition, the spam problem has just gotten out of hand with over a thousand left just within the last week. Even with Akismet working, the blogger still has to load the page and run through them to see if anything got missed.

- My wishlist over at RPGNow.com got reloaded. As you may remember, BlogLily knocked off a good chunk of it. I added a few titles that I would like to have. Use teh email address tdjcbe ( at ) gmail ( dot ) com to pull up the list if you want.

- Fixed lots of links here within the blog. Hopefully everything is working but we all know that will never happen. ;)

Tuesday should be a full day and I hope to get a lot done. See you tomorrow!

Regards,
-drmike
