New Webcomic - Ménage à 3

Still here and kicking. Been really sick and buried in work when I've had time away from the doctors.

Here's a new webcomic that I'm promoting that's actually new: Ménage à 3. It about Gary and his two new roommates, DiDi and Zii. He has to get new roommates as his two previous ones, Matt and Dillion turn out to be gay and go off and get their own place. The comic is not safe for work, contains nudity and should not be viewed by those who are offended by sex and sexual topics. It updates three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Talking to a 10-year-old about porn

Ian in Hamburg is asking for help about talking to his 10 year old daughter about how she was exposed to online porn a few days ago. Some of the comments are pretty good. I don't think much of Google's filtering which is suggested a couple of times. I still see questionable stuff on occasion.

One comment that "concerns me" is how 10 year olds should know about sex. We didn't have that discussion in school until Junior High I believe. (12 and 13 years old maybe?) Have we become that used to sex that it's more common at that early age? That's kind of scary and concerning. I thought we were getting a handle on teenage pregency.

Hmm, maybe we watched too much Dallas and Knots Landing way back when. :)

A few days ago, two of my posts here about mediamax/ thelinkup got listed over at Techcrunch. I'm happy to say MovableType took the extra traffic without issue. Had about an extra three thousand visitors each day for a couple of days. (Played havoc with my Google Adsense numbers though. )

Anyway I was looking for an excuse to post about one man's experience about surviving a Slashdotting with an older computer.

I would make a comment about how it's a pity that he had to go find a plugin to deal with the extra traffic while my site took it fine without issue but that would probably just generate some more posts out of the wordpress camp that cloud issues and are so far from the truth, it's actually funny.

As many of you know, I work with a number of area churches and organizations that assist the area homeless. Recently, Van Miller, a columnist for Charlotte Magazine, wrote an article on one couple who I help. Their names are Arthur and Debbie and I've been helping them since about 2000. They come uptown three times a week and pass out upwards of 500 hot dogs, soda, clothing and supplies. Arthur's been doing it for about 16 or 17 years now.

The article is an interesting read. I have to admit though that I take exception to characterizing all the folks who come out as having "hair [that is] unkempt, their clothes dirty, fingernails long, teeth brown." That kind of bothers me. Yes, some folks are like that but far from all of them which is how I read the article.

There's some pictures up in the gallery. They're all mixed in together though. I'll sort them if I have time tomorrow. The photo I've included here is from the article. (My own pictures aren't that good.)

Wow, I don't have a video games category. /me gone to put one in there.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Wii Fit told a 10-year-old she's fat. What bothers me though is comments like "Only about 10% of children are truly overweight" when that clearly isn't true. The father states that his daughter only weighs "six stone" but that still seems a bit heavy. Six stone for us Americans is 84 pounds.
