I've been meaning to write this one for quite some time. You'll have to forgive me for coming so close to the deadline. My sister pointed me towards this.
Bangor Daily News is getting folks to knit or crochet a 6-inch square from washable yarn, such as cotton or acrylic, and send it to them. They will be sewn together into small blankets and donated to The Animal Orphanage and the Bangor Humane Society to serve as bedding for cats.
The deadline is February, 26th (I know. I should have posted this earlier.) and those who get the squares in before then will have their names entered into a drawing form a couple of books.

I've talked about coming from a small town in the past and how they sometimes have to deal with issues that one would normally see in a bigger city. Crimes like embezzlement seem out of place in a small town of a couple thousand.Sometimes even the cooperation between neighbors seems to be missing.
The inventory is complete and the news is appalling. Seventy firearms -- 45 more than originally reported last week -- are missing from the evidence locker at the Washington County Sheriff's Department. But that's not the scary part. Notice that the date on that article is April 24th, 2007, right?
The Attorney General's Office has been notified and an investigator is expected to be in Machias the first week in May.I guess the Attorney General doesn't think it's a serious issue. edit: Another news story on the issue. Not sure why they're calling a county sheriff's office, the Maine Sheriff though. Sounds like Maine only has a single sheriff's department.
...and *shiver* it's on LiveJournal.
And, yes, I know I need to fix the images on this blog. That's this weekend's project.
