Most read posts for May 2008

Well, May, 2008, has come and gone and I’ve gone ahead and dug out the numbers.  Rather different numbers compared to the previous month.  Let’s take a look.

The most read post for the month is a collection of fan drawn Kim Possible artworks posted to DevianArt.  Probably should fix how the thumbnails look on that page someday.

Runner up is a link to a rather interesting collection of Mac Desktop Wallpapers.

Third and fourth posts in that list is a list of Dragon Magazines that you can download as *.pdfs.

Fifth post is our take on how Mediamax screwed over its clients.  Sixth is a link to an MSNBC article on hypermilers.  Seventh is a video from Family Guy of Peter singing the song Rock Lobster.

Eighth is where I was wonder which Happy Potter I should get: Go see the movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, or get the new book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Of course at the time, I thought it was moot as we thought we could download the new Harry Potter novel.

Ninth post on the list was some more Kim Possible pictures posted to Deviantart.  Tenth was some Harry Potter artwork posted on deviantart.

Other posts of interest were:

Here’s a couple of my own choices:

Kim Possible’s Mission to Hell (I fixed the missing chapter 2 link)
Crash on Volturnus (I really should work on both of those.)

The most read post for the year so far?  The mac desktop wallpapers one.

Looking back at February through April

I haven’t done one of these in quite a while but lets take a look at what posts get the highest number of visits for the last few months.

Download Dragon Magazine and Download Dragon magazine part 2 still top the list. (Hmmm, I wonder why.) A link to some interesting Mac desktop wallpapers still holds the number 3 spot.

An embed of the first Daria episode, Esteemsters, now takes the forth spot.  It’s a pity that the video no longer is hosted anywhere.  Sorry about that.  I do keep looking though.

50 Things Not to do at Hogwarts is fifth.

A bunch of Kim Possible pictures on Deviantart is sixth.

The song Rock Lobster from the Family Guy is seventh. That one is plastered on the net.  It’ll never go away.

Someone trying to passoff their fanfiction as Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows is eighth.  You know I still get folks leaving comments on that post thanking me for the link?

The category page for Rapidshare is ninth and the one for Megaupload is tenth.

Some other interesting posts that get a fair number of reads are:

Today’s Scary Thought

I was over at Quantcast registering a site for a client and noticed that is listed on their front page as a “Recently Quantified Publisher.” We’ll ignore for now that they’ve been registered with them and Quantcast’s javascript has been on the site since February, 2007 and what they mean by “Recently” but I had a chuckle looking at the traffic numbers for sites hosted on their servers.

Rather interesting that gets roughly ten times the traffic that does.

Looking back at January

Breakfast was cool.  Had eggs, bacon, and biscuits.  I think I was the only non-church person there so i had to introduce myself a number of times but I didn’t mind.  I walk by the church twice every day when I head over to UNCC.  Didn’t get any pictures as my batteries died with the other breakfast this morning under the bridge.

I finally got a chance to look over the most read posts for January.  I probably should do some sort of Top Post widget in the sidebar. (edit: Done now.)

Download Dragon Magazine and it’s Part #2 article.
Mac Desktop Wallpapers
50 Things NOT to do at Hogwarts (And I feel bad about that as it’s not even mine.)
Robot Chicken: Charlie Brown And The Great Pumpkin
Download Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? (You can but not with those links.)
Family Guy Videos – Rock Lobster
Movable Type 4.1 gets released (*shrug* All I said was that it was released.)
Crash on Volturnus – Chapter 1 (I really should go back and work on that. I liked writing that stuff.)
Pairings (Another old Daria fanfiction piece that I had written way back when.)
How to stop the irritating “Updating your computer is almost complete – Restart Now?” message

Harry Potter Controls My Blog

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows bookcoverI noticed this morning that another blog linked to my post about the seventh Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, being available for download. (We think it’s a fake by the way in case you’re seeing this for the first time.)
It’s given me a boost in the stats though. Best day we’ve ever had here:

We’ve got Statistics

Another day, another feature. 🙂
That’s probably the way it’s going to work around here for the next few days.
I’ve gone ahead and added in statistics to everybody’s blog. We’re still having an issue with the necessary tables being loaded for new users although I should have something figured out later tonight or at the very least a work around in place. (And if I don’t, then I’ll just add them in by hand until we do.)
Stats example
Give them a try. You can find the stats at your Dashboard -> Blog Stats tab. I you get a strange looking error, be sure to let me know over in the support forums.
Thanks again for visiting,
